Dr Richard Nunn expert in Maori musical instruments and Dr Glenn Colquhoun a famous NZ poet visited Mangonui School. They were welcomed with a powerful powhiri of which they were both very moved and impressed by. Richard shared his amazing range of instruments and showed the school how to play them. He used whale bone to flax creating beautiful music. Glenn shared some great poems and challenged the students to work out their meaning. As he said the great thing about poetry is that they hold a secret! Here are some You Tube clips that show Richard playing some of his instruments.
